How can I not complain? Like today, we had a seminar of interpreting practicum. And what we had to do was to interpret the speaker's speech. However, it's a very academic essay and the speaker were just reading from the notes. It was about legitimacy and authority through ordination and election. I wonder if a native speaker who is not familiar with the topic would understand it all. It's just too difficult for us to understand not to mention to interpret it. Besides, the speaker was 50 minutes late. It's a torture to sit there since most of us do not understand the speech and it's just meaningless. I got angry again and complained to the secretary who was in charge of this. She said it's just the first speech and I should be patient. I could wait until I finish my attending the fifth speech and if I still feel I don't learn anything from them, then I can complain at that time. Don't you think I have another good reason to get angry because of her answer?

However, I tried to calm myself and asked her more about the course I am taking since I was thinking to take a double degree instead of this one. The teaching quality of translation doesn't seem good enough so far for me to stay one and a half years. Luckily, while I was complaining, a senior interpreter who's also in charge of the seminar was there and gave me some good tips of how to practice and some tips of taking notes and some symbols so I will save a lot of time to search on the Internet. Keep positive thinking and good things do come along.

Then I went to the bible study tonight talking about Easter. After that we had dinner together in another college near my school with some other international students. It's called international night so we had students from different countries cooking different meals from their countries and some of them wearing their traditional clothes and also some performances. It's really cool. There's a flag show and for the first time I saw the flag of Taiwan in Australia. I was so excited that I took a lot of pictures. Ha ha. Silly, right? I really think everyone loves their countries more when they are abroad.

Thanks to Garrette to invite me to the dinner and all the people who made the food and the performances so I had a good time tonight.
Thanks to Helen to give me good tips and Alice to listen to my complaints and gave me good advice.
Well, goign to read a bit more of something called PERSUADING ARISTOTLE.  It's really interesting. I am always happy to read something intersting like this.
